Raising the Maine: In Case You Didn't Think We Know What We Are Doing...Long ago we all hade a choice made for us. A great choice! Yes, long, long ago, back in Grandpa's day, Great Men like Prescott Bush of Brown Brothers Harriman investment bank instigated a Great War against an enemy they had funded and trained. Sounds strange, but it was all so the Great Men (and therefore all of America) could sell arms to both sides and profit mightily. And we did, but another curious thing happeed: at the end of the War the Great Men noticed that we had won priviledged access to the world's resources, especially the oil! The Great Decision was made to do whatever we could to preserve this status, including newer, better wars (like the one George Bush fought in the Gulf)! Knowing the Dealer is nothing without the junky, the Great Men amped up our own consumption to drive oil prices up all over while using military pressure and actions to keep prices down for us exclusively. They had lots of great ways of doing this including the sale (Privatization rules!!) of public transportation systems to Corporations who ripped up the tracks, promoting oil consumption by car use. Way to go! Now even our friends are paying twice as much for gasoline as we do. Since we get the best prices, we have a constant economic advantage over everyone else - except for oil producing countries where American-supported strong men are willing to keep their populaces in the stone age in order to get a slice of the American oil money pie. Now we are even rich enough to pay other countries' poor people to fight for us, instead of sending our own poor people. We need them for prison labor! Go America! But then someone found tons of new oil where it hadn't been before. A place where we didn't control everything: Central Asia! All of the sudden, there is tons of new oil and the Great Men want it: Since oil is the source of their power, rogue oil is the greatest threat to their control and the globalization of our New Corporatism. It is a threat to everything that America stands for. Think of the children! Long before September 11, the Russians had all but built their ways to get the Caspian oil out. We needed to get our pipeline done and in use within the shortest possible timeframe. Yeah, the Russians had their pipeline, but it went through Chechneya, where the locals figured out that if they could liberate the country, they could liberate the pipeline and be the ones paid for it's use/protection. They also figured out they could be financially supported from competing pipeline camps for destabilizing the Russian pipeline efforts. This scared off potential oil company partners, so Russia needed to go back into Chechneya (gulp-sky) to try to stabilize it through force. But the Russian people hated the idea. Just as it became clear the public was intransigent in their foolish pacifism, unidentified 'islamic militants' bombed some apartment blocks in Moscow, killing hundreds and swaying public opinion towards renewed conflict in Chechneya. It is generally believed in many intelligence circles (and by many influential Russians) that this was a brilliant scheme by the Russian Government to sway public opinion their way on the topic of Chechneya. A modern day sinking of The Maine. Genius-ovsky! 'WOT A GREAT IDEA!' thought the American Great Men (let's call them 'AGM'). Now where to reapply it? The AGM hadn't been able to deal with the Taliban on their pipeline to the Caspian. We had just given them a $48 million bribe to 'kill the poppy crop' (trans: put the pipeline through) and they renegged on the deal, pocketing the cash. Something needed to be done! The AGM thought they could use this same sort of Putin-esca Sauce of fear to promote a war in Afghanistan, thereby creating the chaos necessary to install a temporary puppet regime with the twin goals of nation building (the PR department) and putting through our own, safer pipeline! Lord knows, just asking wouldn't work! Back in 1998 and really even much before, the AGM figured something out. If they were to gain the Presidency and use that power to influence intelligence organizations to 'ignore' a few warnings of impending terrorism, hopefully a Russian Apartment Block-style attack might occur. As far as getting elected, The AGM weren't satisfied to cross their fingers and compete fairly (THAT's why they are so great!), so they decided to take the Presidency. It must be done! They created/co-opted energy companies to drain money from the public coffers and pensioner's pocketbooks (it will trickle down in triplicate of course, don't worry dear pensioners!) by exploiting accounting rules and the shabby energy deregulation laws they themselves had written and passed via soft money, bribes and misrepresentations (Propositions are a sham, Californians!). That was but a sweet taste of Democracy's silliness taking the backseat to Corporatism for the first of many times to come. The AGM used this money to purchase the Presidency and created investment bank relationships with the American Military Industrial complex much as Brown Brothers Herriman had controlled American-German trade during the Second World War, prior to being unfairly shut down for 'Trading with the Enemy'. Money is money, right? Well the Carlyle Group, Halliburton and Bechtel are making money by effectively steering much of America's military spending into their own pockets. Making money - Bigtime. Just asked one of Carlyle's Founders founders and main powerbrokers - you could choose between George Herbert Walker Bush and the bin Laden Family to start with. Even if they didn't plan or expect the specific attacks of 9/11, they had sure been preparing for the New Corporatist America's response for years! Truly Great Men can see the distant future, prepare for it, and if things don't go their way, Great Men use your tax money to finance a good cheat. So even if it never surfaces that the Great Men actually participated in planning 9/11, we can all rest assured they had prepared for some time to move on that Oil, just in case something nasty enough came to pass. One way or another, truly Great Men like these will always get their way. The American Way! Congrats, Everyone! It's Our Oil!
